Testimonials
Here are a few of the things people are saying about our programs.

Fourth graders just finished a long unit on the Tour de France. They will now travel to L'Alsace where la Saint Nicolas and Noël are two very important events. Many of these children have been working together since preschool. For pictures illustrating the "attachment philosophy" and how it is implemented at French For Fun look HERE.

Show and Tell
always de rigeur at French For Fun children from 3 t0 5 years old become "écureuil" (squirrel) "arbre"(tree) and act out a famous song "Dans la forêt lointaine". Not a word of English is ever spoken.

Registration for Fall 08

is now open to the public!

We are accepting two to five year olds in our morning immersion program* (Poussins, Petits Chats, Coccinelles, Frimousses, Abeilles), and we may open a new afternoon kindergarten class for beginners in French providing we have a minimum of 8 students enrolled in the program.

To better understand how your child can benefit from participating in our immersion program, please review the Total Immersion brochure HERE. You may also browse comments and feedback from parents whose children have grown up at French For Fun by clicking on Parent Testimonials HERE.

The French For Fun immersion experience is all about the experience of growing up in a community of educated families with an appreciation of cultural diversity and a view towards rearing tomorrow’s responsible global citizens. Using very little English in the immersion process, all our students are engaged in learning using the French language. We teach music, math, history, geography, fine arts, grammar, cooking, dance... and we call it French For Fun!

Our afternoon immersion program* is for children with previous French experience. Expatriate students or those coming from bilingual schools are welcome. Continuing students have been at French For Fun since they were toddlers. We are proud to say we have an almost 100% return on enrollment every year.

Our Fles classes are for beginners, or for those continuing in our Fles program. This program is ideal for elementary students who may have less time or other interests, but still want exposure to the French language and culture. For the difference between our immersion program and Fles program see our Parent Testimonials HERE and read the letter from Donna, a language teacher and mother of two boys who have been at French For Fun for a long time.

We have an open door policy. From 9:00 to 12:00 noon we are with our two to five year olds and from 3:30 – 5:00pm you can catch our elementary students in action. Call or drop by today!

For the first time ever all our morning children are coming 5 days a week! Our Petits Chats, Coccinelles, and Frimousses classes are busy and having a great time as you can see in these photos below.

Petits Chats

Les Coccinelles

Les Frimousses

To kick off the school year, our students in the afternoon immersion program learned all about the Marquis de Lafayette. Madame wrote a book about the celebration of the 250th anniversary of our town’s namesake and the children illustrated. Audrey Arnold (5th grade) and Marguerite Sessions (3rd grade) were selected by the Chamber of Commerce and the Lafayette Historical Society. Their books will be donated to the archives of the new public library. How exciting for these children, to be a part of history!

St. François d’Assise,
The Patron Saint of Animals

On October 4th, all students at FFF will celebrate la fête des animaux
on St. François d’Assise’s day. PM Immersion students may bring pets to class that day, but parents must contact the teacher prior to the event for permission. Morning immersion Coccinelles and Frimousses will be taking a field trip to the Lindsay Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek.

La Semaine du goût
October 15th – 19th

http://www.legout.com

The week of October 15th, French children participate in La Semaine du Goût and so will we! During this special week in France, local bakers and chefs come and cook with the children to allow them to taste new flavors and new dishes. At this point, we do not know if we can get our good friend Jean-Paul from the Bistro in Walnut Creek to come and visit, but for sure we will prepare different dishes and taste some real French ingredients!

Clayton Pumpkin Farm October 29th

To wrap up the month of October, all morning immersion children will participate in a field trip to the Clayton Pumpkin Farm! Yeah!

Joyeux Anniversaire
Happy Birthday

On Friday evening September the 7th the town of Lafayette celebrated the 250th birthday of the Marquis de Lafayette in the downtown park. Jazz, fun and beaucoup, beaucoup cake was had by all. An exhibition of a proposal for a series of town murals was on display and much merriment was in evidence. We would like to say Merci !! to Chef Jean Paul from Le Bistro in Walnut Creek for the beautiful and delicious "forêt noire" cake.
