French For Fun Highly recommends Canoe Island French Camp

While attending a Language Conference in San Diego, I learned about Canoe Island French Camp. That summer, my son Robert had to check it out. Curious myself, I went along for a couple of days....It was so beautiful, we both felt in love with the area., the camp, the people.... It was summer 2010.

Here is a picture of Robert (16 at the time). With that picture, I was receiving his first letter.

The following year, Robert returned to French Camp as a Junior counselor and helped with maintenance, working mostly outdoors, which he loves.

Thanks to Connie, Joseph and all the wonderful people who make this camp experience EXTRAORDINAIRE, Robert is now a Junior at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA.

Last year, Arielle who grew up at French For Fun, embarked for Washington to attend French Canoe Island Camp. Needless to say, she felt in love with the place, the people, and will be returning this coming summer.

At right is a picture of Arielle as a little girl, taking French at French For Fun in Lafayette, CA loving all our activities, lessons, her French Friends...and her as a teenager, speaking fluent French, meeting new French Friends in French Camp on the Orcas Islands....

GÉNIAL ! Tous les enfants qui aiment le français devraient avoir cette chance.

~Madame Catherine

Whether your child is a beginner in French or has been attending French immersion school, they will find their right place at Canoe Island French Camp. From the first “Bienvenue” as they step onto the dock to the last A bientôt as we wave goodbye, they will be immersed in the language to their ability. Morning classes are at five levels from débutant to avancé with a native French instructor and a French-fluent American instructor leading every class of 6-10 campers.

VISIONS Service Adventure's French summer program in Guadeloupe combines community service, travel, and French language immersion. VISIONS has been working on island communities in Guadeloupe since 1991, and are currently based on the vibrant and colorful island of Marie-Galante. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of tourist activity, our high school volunteers live and work with community members who speak little to no English. The service work includes construction, environmental projects, and work with kids. This conversational language experience is a great complement to classroom studies. For more information, visit the VISIONS Guadeloupe French immersion program online.

One Of Our Very Own FFF students from Lafayette, Grace A... did go to this camp in Guadeloupe, 8 years ago and loved it. As a matter of fact she is now working in New York City and her roommte had gone to the same camp with her. That says it all! Especially when you know the family as well as I do.
